Définition
Un langage de modélisation pédagogique sert à concevoir, implémenter, décrire, etc. des scénarios pédagogiques. En règle générale, il s'agit de modéliser des activités d'apprentissage.
«Un scénario d'apprentissage représente la description, effectuée a priori ou a posteriori, du déroulement d'une situation d'apprentissage visant l'appropriation d'un ensemble précis de connaissances, en précisant les rôles, les activités ainsi que les ressources de manipulation de connaissances, outils et services nécessaires à la mise en oeuvre des activités.» (Pernin et Lejeune 2004)

Critères de description
Il s'agit de trouver une liste de critères qui permettra de décrire ces langages au sens large. Un "langage" peut donner du support à plusieurs "niveaux" et ce qui constitue l'essence d'un langage varie selon les auteurs ...
Pour comparer 4 systèmes, MOT, Dialog Plus, ASK-LDT et ACCT, Brady et al. (2008) ont utilisé 6 variables dichotomiques.
