An emerging learning object (ELO) is a kind of learning object produced by a students.

Software

Pedagogical scenarios where the learner creates artififacts that then are reused for learning are not uncommon in educational technology research. The concept, however, grew out of the Collide research group led by Ulrich Hoppe at University of Duisburg. This group collaborated and led many software projects. The most well know and operational classroom technology systems are:

A more recent project is a design tool developed in the Scy-net project, called SCY-SE and that allows to define pedagogical scenarios (or CSCL scripts composed of Learning activity spaces making use of these ELOs.
