According to the help pages, Website Optimizer allows to do two types of testing: A/B testing and multivariate testing.
- So-called A/B testing allows to test performance of two or more different pages.
- Multivariate test allow to test various sections of the page. Read Google's testing strategies for more information
For simple A/B testing, you will have to insert some JavaScript code into each of the concerned pages, i.e. the testing pages and the "goals" pages (where users should land).
