Citizen science is scientific research with the participation of amateurs. Participants can provide computing power (and other resources), collect data, classify data, analyze data or sometimes participate more actively in the research. In other terms, one could distinguish between volunteer computing, volunteer thinking, volonteer sensing, volonteer gaming and extreme (participatory) citizen science. This portal is a little citizen science project by itself, named "Citizen Science for Citizen Science" (CS4CS). It is supported by the FP7 citizen cyberlab project and aims to collect information about various citizen science projects.
Below you can add new citizen science projects, infrastructure and software or you can contribute to existing entries. Project refers to a specific citizen science project. Infrastructure refers to some kind of central service, or even a web site which centralizes a number of citizen science projects (for example Zooniverse or Crowdcrafting). Software refers to programs, code, tools, allowing to build citizen science projects (for example Pybossa).
