Term project COAP 2100
Task: Create a little website that has a purpose of your choice
- Define some clear objectives and requirements for your term project
- Implement the website with an online service
Constraints:
- You should use one of the following online services:
- http://sites.google.com/ (web site generator)
- https://www.blogger.com/ (blogger service)
- http://www.ning.com/ (social network creator)
- http://netvibes.com/ (start page/webtop)
- http://wikispaces.com (wiki service)
- Until week 6, you may suggest another technology.
- As a general rule, your website should include between 4 and 6 subpages. A well-designed webtop can use less, blogs should include at least 3 posts plus some extra information (e.g. some useful "gadgets").
- You should select a theme that fits the purpose of your web site
- Within your web site, you must shortly specify the objectives, the target audience and other requirements. You may use a sub-page, a widget or any other device for that.
- You are not allowed to "sell" prior work, except homework 1 (this can be easily tested by the instructor).
Note:
- If your project is ambitious, you may just fill in the most important pages (e.g. the welcome message) and provide 3-4 examples.
Evaluation criteria:
- Presence of objectives (i.e. can a user figure out what they are ?)
- Does the result fit your objectives
- Overall coherence and ergonomics
- Contents: Do they look "real" ?
- Style
- Technical quality (e.g. no broken links)
- Presentation (be able to clearly present a project in 3 minutes)
- On time (that includes your presentation in class !)
Submission
- Due: Monday week 6, before start of class
- Submit an URL to the Worldclassroom "Term project" assignment
- In addition, each student must very shortly present his/her project on Wednesday week 8. You will have exactly 3 minutes to present the purpose of your project and discuss the results.
