Paraskevi Synteta holds an MA in Educational Technology, University of Geneva (CH, 2001) and a University degree in Applied Mathematics, Math dept. of Aristotle Univ. of Thessaloniki (GR, 1992). She did continuing education in “Multimedia Applications in self learning by distance”, London Institute (UK, 1993) and in "Self learning by distance", Euroform, DIMITRA, Institute of Information Training & Development, Larissa (GR, 1992).

She is currently a fulltime mother :) and was until 2006 a teaching and research assistant at TECFA, The Educational Technology Unit, Faculty of Psychology and Science of Education, University of Geneva, Switzerland. She is also a doctoral student at the same faculty.

Some of the courses in which she was implicated are Information and Communication Systems, Virtual Environments, Web technologies and programming in education. She was also a research collaborator (educational technologist, assistant manager, integration) at the TECFA Seed partner in the European project SEED “Seeding cultural change in the school system through the generation of communities engaged in integrated educational and technological innovation" (5th Framework European IST program).

She has been a lecturer and part of the organizing committee of several courses of continuing education at the university of Geneva (“Teaching with Internet”, “Webmaster of educational sites”) and acted as teaching assistant for several courses at CPTIC for web technologies in education.

Her current main area of research is web-based learning (e-learning) and more specifically networked project-based learning, the study of the information and communication portals in education, the community building among educational communities and the computer-supported collaborative learning (CSCL). She is the author and developer of EVA_pm and ePBL, both constructivist web environments for Project-Based e-Learning.
