This beginner's tutorial for the Stitch Era embroidery software explains how to create designs for hotfix stones.

Stitch Era includes an extension that module that allows creating hotfix designs. It allows filling areas with holes for hotfix stones according to various parameters. The design then can be sent to a vinyl cutter or a laser cutter to create a template
The template can be "filled" witch strass as explained in the hot stone article. Once in place, the stones can be transferred on a textile and finally be heat pressed with a hot iron or (better) a heat press.
