Definition
Celtx is a free “all-in-one media pre-production software. It has everything you need to take your story from concept to production. Celtx replaces 'paper, pen & binder' pre-production with a digital approach that's more complete, simpler to work with, and easier to share.” (home page, retrieved 10:05, 30 January 2009 (UTC)).
The toolset
Celtx includes:
- Writing tools, including specialized editors for writing Screenplay, Stageplay, AV scripts, Audio Play, Comic Book, Plain Text. You also can create your own template and translate from one to another.
- Pre-visualisation tools
- Organisation tools
- Collaboration tools
- Publishing tools
Celtx runs on Win, Mac OSX and Linux (!). Translations exist for many langauges.
In education
Tools like Celtx can be used to plan pedagogical scenarios, i.e. it can be repurposed as an learning design tool, in particular if you create educationa-spécific templates.
