The Art of Potato War or Potato Pirates is a card game to learn programming principles. It was crowd funded under the name of Potato Pirates: The Tastiest Coding Card Game.

Introduction

According to the About the Game (retrieved March 2019), “Potato Pirates is a swashbuckling game of carbs and strategy, perfect for families, educators, geeks, you name it. Learn fundamental computational thinking concepts in just a 30 minutes game - all without a computer.” The game is designed for:

  • 3 - 6 players
  • Ages 6 & up
  • 20 to 40 minutes per round

It includes: 84 potato crew with storage sack, 16 ship tokens, 32 action cards, 2 control cards, 22 surprise cards and 7 potato King cards.

The main aim is to learn about “computational thinking logic without being frustrated by syntax”.

The game also can be used to create some group dynamics among freshman students, according to Yann Secq
