The greater portion of my professional and educational formation has been in the area of information security. Over the years, I became increasingly frustrated with and interested to address what I term the "usability-security paradox." I use this term describe several binary relationships that seem to stifle the progress of usability and security practitioners in their efforts to develop genuinely usable information security protocols. As a doctoral candidate in the University of Baltimore's DS in Information and Interaction Design program, I am conducting research into mental models and novice user compliance with security protocols in the context of ubiquitous computing.
