Introduction

This (future) page should include a short introduction and lists of good resources for people who develop mobile applications. Applications themselves should go into specialized pages, e.g. members of the Mobile computing category, or else topic-oriented pages.

What is mobile ?

"Mobile computing" can refer to the use of any device that can be carried, e.g.:

  • laptops
  • Simple Cell phones
  • Smartphones
  • Tablets
  • E-book readers
  • Gaming consoles
  • Very small and light laptops (Netbooks)
  • Some combinations of the above or all of the above.

"Mobile computing" also could refer to the mobile user.

A good definition probably includes both, e.g. something like: "Mobile computing is where a user can be physically mobile and at the same time access non-trivial applications/services. In addition, these applications could adapt to the user's situation.
