Definition
Educational software can refer to most educational technologies, i.e. all software designed or used to facilitate teaching and learning.
Educational software can refer in more narrow sense to sofware whose primary purpose is either technology-enhanced classroom teaching or self-learning of contents, e.g.
- CBT sofware and Web-based training (WBT)
- Computer-based learning environments like microworlds, computer simulations and Hypertext systems.
- Cognitive tools
I.e. everything that is not just pure computer-mediated communication or professional tools, see educational technologies anyhow for an overview.
