Introduction

The paperless classroom refers to an environment that makes use of classroom management software and other educational applications. Paperless classrooms are a fairly old idea and periodically gain a lot of attention. The most recent wave at the time of writing was created by Google Classroom and its more recent Apple Schoolwork, etc.

In some areas of the world, that type of environment can be known under a different name. E.g., starting from the early 2010s, the french school system developed several regional initiatives under the name of digital working environment.
